Issues that were investigated in the study were related to feelings of having nothing to live for, self-loathing, panic attacks, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. The study found that unemployed young people were more than twice as likely as their peers to have been prescribed anti-depressants. More than 440,000 young people are facing long-term unemployment and the Prince’s Trust fear that if nothing is done about this problem these young people will become hopeless as well as jobless.
