The Labour party has proposed to ban smoking in cars where there are children and this has raised a debate about whether it is right that politicians should take on such a ‘parental role’. Those in favour argue that such a ban is about protecting children but those opposing it claim that although smoking in cars where children are present is a stupid thing to do, there should not be a law about it.
