Can cancer be cured?

Yes, cancer can be cured in many cases, but sadly sometimes this is not possible

The problem with this question, is that there are over 200 different types of cancer. Within each cancer type there are different stages and cancer diseases are treated in many different ways.  Also, people respond differently to treatments so even if people have the same cancer and treatment, they may not have the same outlook.

There is not one single ‘cure’ for cancer but many types of cancer respond well to different treatments. Particularly when cancer is diagnosed early, treatments can often get rid of the cancer completely. Other times, treatments can keep the cancer under control for many years but may not completely cure it. Research is being done all the time to try and find new treatments so that more cancers can be cured. Although the outlook for people who get cancer is getting better and better - sadly, some people do die of the disease.
